My Check List |

I’ve never been more excited to go to the dentist in my LIFE.—And not just GO to the dentist, but get my teeth drilled! Yes! Drill baby drill!! No, I’m not a masochist, it’s just one of the last things on my “to do” list before we start trying to make a baby. Yea, it would be nice to travel across Europe, or if I was making twice as much money, but I’ve realized that some things on my Baby Bucket List can wait, or be accomplished after a baby—And some… Well, they’re just plain not that important to me anymore. I pulled a journal of mine the other day and read the entry to my husband. We had just recently gotten married and we talking about when we wanted to have kids. I said I wouldn’t mind starting to try then but it would be fun if I could visit the Caribbean, maybe ride a jet ski or four-wheeler first.—I just accomplished all of those things earlier this year. I have my degree, I have a career, and I have a house (sort of—it’s just in another state). I know that a child, and a family is what I really want in this life, so what am I waiting for? Sure, there are some things I still want to do, and I imagine if it’s still important to me I will still do those things, but now, I’m focusing on the serious things—The things I MUST get done before we start TTC. First off, I wanted to go to the doctor and get physicals, make sure we were up to date on our shots and all of that good stuff. I had my GYN visit and had my IUD removed, she told me everything seemed good and fine. I told her we may start trying to have kids this year and she said it would be a good idea to wait a few months for my uterus lining to thicken again—Check. My doctor said it would be a good idea to get my tetanus and pertussis vaccines, then wait a few months after for the pertussis shot to wear off—Check. It’s a good idea to start taking prenatal vitamins a few months early so you have time for your body to stock up on all of the nutrients it needs—Check. I read that it is also a good idea to go to the dentist and get any problems fixed beforehand cause you don’t want to get pain medicated while pregnant and certain gum diseases can cause premature birth. Well, I went to the dentist… But the dentist I went to was a rip off… Yea, I went nine months before to a dentist who we’ve been to for years and I had no cavities. I moved to a different state and this new dentist told me I had 13 cavities… 13!! I’ve only had one in my entire life! So… I scheduled another appointment with the family friend dentist (yes, during my family reunion vacation I’m going to the dentist) so he can see how many cavities I really have and fill what needs to be filled. Once I complete this task I’ll finally feel comfortable health wise for trying to conceive. |
