When trying to conceive our bodies play strange tricks on us. You once had extremely regular menstrual cycles and now, your period shows up whenever she wants to. It arrives a few days early or shows up a week late making you believe that you are pregnant every month. We keep falling for the same tricks. Each month it becomes something different. One day you have all the early pregnancy symptoms and the next, you have a vivid dream about your pregnancy. But then, you pee on that pregnancy stick and get the same results: negative. It’s like your body is playing a game with you and winning every time. Your right breast definitely feels more tender this month; and you are much more gassier than usual, just ask your partner. Negative pregnancy test. You have peed every hour for the past three days. Negative pregnancy test. You felt ill after eating that cheese sandwich. Negative pregnancy test. Your belly feels extremely bloated. Negative pregnancy test. We play the same game every month and yet, we continue to play again believing that next will be different. It becomes even worse after a fertility procedure when you believe that you have a better chance of winning the game. But your body loves the challenge. Those fake early pregnancy symptoms come on even stronger – your body rolls the dice and you get darker nipples; it rolls again and nausea arrives; it rolls a third roll and you have a strange metallic taste in your mouth. You are getting closer to the end and your temperature soars! Negative pregnancy test. Next month you refuse to play the game. You won’t fall for the same fake pregnancy tricks. Who are you kidding? Of course you will and one of these days you will actually win the prize of a swollen belly and a beautiful little baby. Comments (5)

... I go through this several times a month even after I take the test. It goes through my mind "maybe its too early to tell" or "is the test wrong, I have all the symptoms." |

... Those fake pregnancy symptoms keep happening every month, and it doesn't seem to get easier. All I can say is keep your sense of humor, and enjoy your partner. |

... I laughed and cried while reading this. I thought I was the only women who went through this...thinking of an episode of "Mental" where a women was convinced she was pregnant, but was actually looney tunes! Thank you for your comedic spin on a subject that has been driving me batty!! |
