Books, Movies, and Babies—Ending the Year With a Bang!

Written by Kim Hahn, Founder of Conceive    Thursday, 10 December 2009 11:33    PDF Print E-mail
Sometimes the end of the year can be a quiet time for businesses, but this year is really ending in an exciting way for Conceive.

First of all, we’ve found out that our new cookbook (Cooking to Conceive, published by Chronicle Books), will be carried in Target stores. You can see an excerpt of the book—with some delicious recipes. The fertility-boosting recipes are all absolutely delicious, and perfectly appropriate for before, during, and after pregnancy, and even for holiday entertaining.

I was also really excited to attend the In the Know Short Film Festival event in New York City on November 5. The festival was cosponsored by RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association, and by Fertility LifeLines, a free patient resource provided by EMD Serono. The festival winners, Kristin and Wally Acuña of Clifton, New Jersey, were dealing with secondary infertility. After trying for about nine months to give their son Averee a sibling, they decided to seek treatment early. Eventually the Acuñas turned to in vitro fertilization (IVF), and Kristin gave birth to triplets Arden, Mercer, and Anderson in the spring of 2007. You can watch the Acuñas’ winning video at Fertilitylifelinesfilms.com.

Conceive is all about getting pregnant, and we’re very proud to announce a trio of pregnancies—and one baby—in the Conceive family. Congratulations to three of  ConceiveOnline’s bloggers, who recently revealed their pregnancies online: Johanna Rose of  “Mommyland,” Jennifer Johnson of “Ready or Not,” and Stephanie Dishman of “Organic Conception Chronicles.”  All three will blog for Conceive through their first trimester.

Last but not least, I want to give a very special congratulations to Rita Costa, who has been an amazing nanny to my daughter Taylor for the past seven years, and is now a brand-new mommy to baby Olivia, born November 14. We wish all the best to Rita,  her husband Mabio, and new daughter Olivia.

So 2009 is ending with a bang, and we’re looking forward to lots more happy and newsworthy events in 2010!

I'm definitely looking forward to 2010 to see what is in store for me. In the meantime, my focus will be reading more exciting books, cooking (to conceive of course), taking better care of myself, and most important planning for baby #1! Thanks for the great reads.
