Q. Is it okay to use lubricants during intercourse when you're trying to conceive?

A. Yes. In fact, many patients being treated with Clomid for fertility problems are known to develop vaginal dryness, and can benefit from using lubricants. We’ve tested a number of lubricants, and there are a few that don’t lower sperm survival. We’ve found mineral oil (specifically Squibb, the kind used as an intestinal lubricant), and vegetable oil (such as corn oil) to be safe and effective. There’s also a lubricant called Pre-Seed (which we haven’t tested) that advertises itself as “sperm friendly,” which might be worth a try.
