Q. My husband and I both travel a lot for work, and now that we’re trying to get pregnant we find that we’re rarely together at the right time to conceive. How can we get around this obstacle so we can be parents?
A. If it’s really impossible to have sex at the right time to conceive, one way to get around the problem would be to have your husband freeze his sperm. Then, when you ovulate (usually the day after an ovulation predictor kit turns positive), you would go to the fertility center to be inseminated with your husband’s thawed sperm. An intrauterine insemination (IUI) only takes a few minutes, is usually painless, and you’re able to return to normal activities minutes after the insemination is completed.
