If you think your headaches and tight shoulders are the only physical manifestations of your super-stressed life, think again.

Your uterus may be paying the price as well. A healthy uterus contracts about five times a minute, but stress can increase the frequency of those contractions, which can keep a fertilized egg from implanting in your womb. While you can’t directly control the muscles that handle uterine contractions, you do have some power to relax them. By relaxing your voluntary muscles via yoga, meditation, or even a slow walk around the block, you cause your entire body to release its tension. When that happens, your involuntary muscles will relax as well.
