Happy New Year! This year, 2009, is going to be an extra special one, because you'll be bringing home your new baby. But before you do, there are going to be lots of things you and your partner need to bring home first in order to get ready. It can be a little overwhelming to think about all the things you need, not only for the baby, but for yourself and the nursery. You've got enough to think about as it is . . . so let us help you out. From the crib to the car seat to the onesies-baby shopping can take on a life of its own. But, it doesn't need to be stressful, especially when we've provided a handy little checklist to help you keep a rundown of all the essentials. . Sure, these may not necessarily be must-have items, but why not indulge?

Shopping for Baby


Where do you start? There's such a vast array of things available for new babies. Some are adorable, some practical, some extravagant, and some necessary. There are the things you need, the things you want, and the things you just have to have. We've broken our list down into categories, and in each one we've separated the basics-the things you really should have-from the fun extras-the things you know you want really, really badly. Decide how much of a shopaholic mom you are, then get your charge cards ready.

Fashion Baby: Clothing & Layette

-  more of everything (the clothes are so cute!)












Changing Time
What You Need:


-  diaper pails and refills
-  diaper stackers
-  rash ointment and powder
-  disposable or cloth diapers

Bath Time
What You Need:
-  infant bath tub
-  washcloths and/or mitts
