5 Toothpastes That Boost Dental (and Fertility) Health

We've said it before, and we'll say it again: If you’re trying to conceive, it’s crucial to make an appointment with your dentist as soon as possible. Why? Because good dental care before pregnancy is beneficial to your reproductive health, since untreated gingivitis can cause gums to bleed, and can allow bacteria from the mouth to enter the body and infect the fetus.

One of the easiest ways to properly care for your pearly whites is to brush with an American Dental Association (ADA)-approved fluoride toothpaste twice a day. According to their site, pregnant women (or in this case, women who are trying to conceive) should choose oral care products that have met the ADA's standards of safety and effectiveness.

While the varieties of toothpastes abound (from whitening and sensitive, to fruity and minty, to pastes and gels), we narrowed down the ADA's list to five that not only boost your dental hygiene, but also put you one step closer on the get-pregnant track.
